From 23 to 27 March 2026, Lea Horvat, Petra Tomljanović and Ivana Jagodić took part in a short-term Erasmus+ mobility for a teaching internship. The mobility took place at Van Lodenstein College in Kesteren in the Netherlands. The aim of the internship was to broaden their perspectives and gain new experience in the field of education. During their stay, they got an insight into the Dutch school system, including both theoretical and practical teaching, as well as different approaches to student assessment. By observing lessons, they developed useful skills in classroom management and effective teaching. They also spoke with biology and chemistry teachers, as well as teachers of other subjects, exchanging ideas and teaching approaches that could also be applied in Croatian schools. As part of the programme, they visited the NPEC at Wageningen University where they learned about modern techniques used to monitor plant phenotypes with a focus on developing climate-resilient crops and promoting sustainable food production. They also visited Ouwehands Zoo where they had the chance to see several rare animal species. Overall, the mobility helped them gain valuable experience and practical skills that will be useful for improving their teaching in the near future.
