From May 25 to 31, 2025, students Lea Horvat, Petra Tomljanović, and Ivana Jagodić participated in the summer school titled “Socio-Environmental Vulnerabilities and Sustainable Transitions: Challenge-based Approaches”, organized as part of the COLOURS program at the University of Ferrara in Italy.
This was a valuable opportunity to gain new knowledge about sustainable development and socio-environmental challenges. Through lectures, workshops, group work, and field activities in the Po River area, we explored topics such as climate change, sustainable tourism, cultural heritage, and communication in the context of environmental issues.
Fieldwork, conversations with local experts, and visits to museums provided a deeper understanding of local challenges and opportunities for sustainable development. In addition to acquiring academic knowledge, it was particularly rewarding to work in international teams, learn about different approaches, and exchange ideas with peers from various European countries.
This form of mobility not only broadens professional knowledge but also creates space for new connections, collaborations, and personal growth. We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking to broaden their horizons and work on real social challenges.
