Members of the Sub-Department of Zoology perform their scientific, professional and teaching work in three laboratories: Laboratory for Entomology, Laboratory for Animal Ecology, and Laboratory for Molecular and Cellular Biology of Plants. Scientific work is focused on education carried out in cooperation with primary and secondary schools throughout Croatia. Mentioned laboratories serve as facilities in which Department’s students prepare their final bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral theses. In addition to teaching, members of the Sub-Department are engaged in scientific and professional research projects to provide their students with quality teaching contents and open access to scientific research from the very beginning of their studies. Participation in projects implemented by the Sub-Department of Zoology provides students with efficient and practical insights into methods of biological research applied on sites and in laboratory, as well as research methods in education.
Connecting scientific research with the teaching process is necessary to accomplish the main objective of the Sub-Department and to raise the quality of teaching and research at the Department of Biology.
